Греция в поисках гаранта безопасности: между США, НАТО и Европейскими сообществами (1947‒1981 гг.)

Аннотация. В статье анализируется эволюция внешнеполитической стратегии Греции в 1947‒1981 гг. с акцентом на поиск Афинами гаранта безопасности. Новизна исследования состоит в анализе влияния международно-политической ситуации на вхождение страны в Европейское экономическое сообщество (ЕЭС). Работа вносит вклад в изучение истории европейской интеграции и международных отношений в Восточном Средиземноморье в послевоенный период. Международно-политическая обстановка холодной войны способствовала ориентации Греции на США и НАТО. При этом греческое руководство проявило интерес к ЕЭС и европейской интеграции. В 1961 г. под влиянием экономических факторов было заключено соглашение об ассоциации с ЕЭС. Ухудшение греко-турецких отношений и эскалация напряженности на Кипре в 1960-е гг. способствовали усилению ориентации Афин на Вашингтон. Провал греческого сценария на Кипре ввиду оккупации северной части острова турецкими войсками в 1974 г. и нейтралитет США в конфликте привели к переориентации Афин на ЕЭС в качестве нового гаранта безопасности. В результате под влиянием внешнеполитических факторов греческая элита приняла решение вступить в ЕЭС.

Greece in Search of a Security Guarantor:

Between the United States, NATO, and the European Communities (1947‒1981)

Abstract. The article analyzes the evolution of Greece’s foreign policy strategy from 1947 to 1981, with a focus on Athens’ pursuit of a security guarantor. The novelty of the research lies in analyzing the impact of the international political situation on the country’s accession to the European Economic Community (EEC). The work contributes to the study of the history of European integration and international relations in the Eastern Mediterranean during the postwar period. The international political context of the Cold War facilitated Greece’s alignment with the United States and NATO. At the same time, the Greek leadership demonstrated interest in the EEC and European integration. In 1961, the economic factors influenced signing the association agreement between Greece and the EEC. The deterioration of Greek-Turkish relations and the escalation of tensions in Cyprus during the 1960s contributed to reinforcing Athens’ orientation toward Washington. The failure of the Greek scenario in Cyprus due to the occupation of the northern part of the island by Turkish troops in 1974 and the United States’ neutrality in the conflict led to Athens’ reorientation toward the EEC as a new security guarantor. Consequently, under the influence of foreign policy factors, the Greek elite decided to join the EEC.
